As the warm winter sun casts a soft glow over the campus and the efforts of a semester bloom into harvest joys, the End-of-Semester Ceremony for the First Semester of the 2025 Academic Year at Hailiang International School (HIS)kicked off warmly on February 4th. Centered on the theme Boundless Hearts・Greater Futures, all faculty and students gathered in a solemn yet heartwarming atmosphere, wrapping up this semester’s journey of holistic growth perfectly and embracing the winter vacation and future possibilities with full anticipation.

PART 01

Warm-Up Surprises & Heartfelt Warmth

The ceremony kicked off with a vibrant opening performance guided by Ms. Karina. Students from diverse backgrounds—Cheon Sayoon (South Korea), Mary (Nigeria), Aiko (Thailand), Kiki (India), Chloe (Germany), Emma (Spain), and more—lit up the venue with their dynamic show, vividly showcasing the campus’s diversity and inclusiveness.

After the performance, they turned into”Winter Messengers, “handing out exclusive gift bags filled with candies, red envelopes, and blessing cards to every teacher and student present. Sweetness passed between hands, and warmth lingered in hearts.

The warmth reached its peak during the raffle draw. A variety of snack bundles and creative“study welfare coupons”brought constant laughter, while the most precious prize—an invitation to Afternoon Tea with the Principal—pushed the atmosphere to a touching climax. Every gift was not just a reward but the school’s thoughtful care, making this winter afternoon of harvest and farewell full of surprises and emotions.

Growth Reflections Every Step is Scenery

A semester review video took everyone on a trip down memory lane: From the anticipation of the Opening Ceremony to the gratitude of Teachers’ Day; from the glory of the Mid-Semester Awards to the passion of the New Year’s Eve Music Festival; from the vitality on the sports field to the warmth of the “Compliment Campaign”… Every fragment is a vivid footnote to“holistic growth.”

Reports from student organizations and a recap of the I’m in China Course together told the story of HIS students’ exploration, integration, and transcendence in a multicultural environment. In this diverse setting, students also have abundant opportunities to learn to speak Chinese through daily interactions, cultural immersion, and structured language support, allowing them to communicate confidently and engage more deeply with their surroundings.

Moment of Glory Every Shine Deserves Tribute

The highlight of the ceremony was the solemn awards session, where we honored the perseverance and excellence of every teacher and student over the semester.

In the semester merit evaluation (jointly assessed by classes, teachers, and the school), more than ten student honors were announced one after another, including Model of Civilized Etiquette, Model of Comprehensive Ability, Model of Multicultural Integration, Outstanding Student, Outstanding Student Leader, and Student Organization Star. Chinese and foreign teacher representatives, such as Ms. Kelly and Mr. Alexander, presented awards to the students, and the applause was full of recognition and profound expectations.

Awards like Civilized Dormitory and Star Class witnessed the cohesion and progress of the collectives—here, individual efforts are recognized, and the brilliance of the team is even more touching.
