Dear Parents,

Warm greetings to all of you!

As time marches forward and a new year unfolds, we have walked through a fulfilling and fruitful first semester of the 2025 academic year hand in hand, and now step into the brand-new chapter of 2026 with full confidence and anticipation. On this occasion of bidding farewell to the old and welcoming the new, all faculty and staff of Hailiang International School (HIS) would like to extend our sincerest gratitude and best New Year wishes to you for your constant trust, understanding and support.

Over the past semester, centering on the academic year theme “Cultivate Deeply, Bloom Brilliantly”, we have kept forging ahead in the fertile ground of diverse education. It is a great pleasure to witness our students absorbing nourishment from a rich variety of courses and activities, growing steadily in academics, character, arts and sports, as well as showing inspiring vitality and potential. The students in HIS have achieved remarkable results in numerous high-standard competitions at home and abroad. These accomplishments are not only a testament to their individual abilities but also a vivid reflection of the rooting and flourishing of the school’s philosophy of”well-rounded education“.

PART 02

Nurturing the Whole Person: Guiding the Light of Well-rounded Growth

This semester, through a series of monthly theme courses and activities, we explored important topics of growth with the students and continuously built a consensus on home-school co-education. In terms of campus safety, we steadily promoted anti-bullying work to fully create a safe, friendly and inclusive growth environment.

A rich variety of campus activities ran throughout the semester, from the Opening Ceremony, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year Music Festival to the Semester Closing Ceremony, infusing ritual and warmth into students’ daily lives. The“I am in China” series of courses guided students to experience Chinese culture immersively, deepening their understanding and identification of it.

We assigned a growth mentor to each new student to help them adapt to campus life smoothly. Various student organizations have flourished, providing support for students’ personalized development and the improvement of their comprehensive abilities. Through the”Student Well-being Program“, the school has continuously optimized campus facilities and the environment, actively listened to students’ voices and responded to their growth needs in a timely manner. In addition, regular communication channels such as the Principal’s Afternoon Tea, Principal’s Dinner and Principal’s Mailbox have been established to ensure that every voice is heard and valued.

We firmly believe that only through close home-school cooperation and joint efforts in education can we better guard every stage of the students’ growth and help them move towards a broader and brighter future.

Winter Vacation Arrangements and Warm Reminders

The winter vacation will start on February 5, 2026, and is scheduled to end on March 7, 2026. The specific start-of-school date will be notified separately in accordance with the arrangements of the education department and Hailiang Education Group, so please stay tuned. To ensure the continuity of learning and maintain a good learning state, please assist your child in planning the vacation reasonably and ensure their timely return to school.

In line with the concept of environmental protection, the Academic Report, Comprehensive Quality Development Report, Winter Vacation Homework List and this letter to parents are all issued in electronic form this semester. Please check them in a timely manner to fully understand your child’s semester performance and vacation tasks.

The Spring Festival, one of the most important festivals in Chinese culture, is approaching—a time for family reunion and sharing joy. To enable the children to spend a safe, healthy, fulfilling and happy vacation, we kindly ask you to pay attention to the following suggestions:

Warm Reminders

Keep a Regular Routine and Balance Work and Rest

  • Maintain a regular schedule with early sleep and early rise; control the time spent on mobile phones, computers and TV to protect eyesight.
  • Make a reasonable and effective study plan, complete winter vacation homework on time, and preview and review knowledge in a timely manner.
  • Strengthen physical exercise for no less than 1 hour every day to enhance immunity.
  • Read more good books and keep reading for more than 30 minutes every day to develop a good reading habit.

Experience Labor and Cultivate a Sense of Responsibility

The vacation is a great opportunity to develop children’s life skills and a sense of family responsibility. Encourage your child to learn one or two housework skills, such as simple cooking and room tidying. Let them experience the gains from hard work through practical hands-on activities and improve their ability to live independently.

Prioritize Safety at All Times

Please earnestly fulfill your guardianship responsibilities and pay special attention to the following safety issues:

  • Drowning Prevention: Warn children to stay away from dangerous water areas and never play on ice surfaces.
  • Online Safety: Guide children to surf the Internet healthily, guard against Internet addiction and fraud, and protect personal information.
  • Traffic Safety: Abide by traffic rules and travel safely and politely.
  • Food Safety: Pay attention to dietary hygiene and a balanced diet; do not consume unlicensed, unmarked and uninspected food.
  • Fire Safety: Use electricity and gas safely, prevent fires and pay attention to heating safety.
  • Mental Health: Accompany your child with high-quality time, listen and communicate more, pay attention to their emotional changes, and create a warm and harmonious family atmosphere.

Looking back on the past semester, we sincerely thank you for your support and cooperation with the school. It is precisely because of your company that the children have made steady progress in academics, social interaction and interest development. During the vacation, may you and your child spend a warm time together and continue to accumulate knowledge and grow while relaxing.

As the Lunar Year of the Horse Spring Festival is approaching, we would like to extend our sincerest wishes to you and your family:

Happy Chinese New Year, good health, a harmonious family and all the best!

We also eagerly look forward to welcoming the children back to campus in the next semester with wonderful vacation memories and full energy.

We hope they will share interesting Spring Festival stories with teachers and peers, and in the new academic year, embrace passion, move forward towards the sunshine, and embark on a fulfilling and wonderful new journey of learning.

With sincere regards,

Hailiang International School
