Hailiang International School – 2025 Summer Holiday Guidance for Families

Date 2025.6.30

Embracing the Holiday Season, Sustaining the Spirit of Learning

The summer holiday officially begins on July 1, 2025, and is expected to end around August 31. The exact return date will be announced later in accordance with government guidelines and the Hailiang Education Group’s transportation arrangements.

In line with our low-carbon, eco-friendly practices, all materials—including academic reports, comprehensive development reports, summer homework lists, and this letter—will be sent to parents via digital channels. Please check these documents in a timely manner to stay informed about your child’s performance and the holiday arrangements.

In this continuous learning journey, study in China offers students not only academic growth but also the opportunity to experience a rich multicultural environment that extends beyond the classroom and into daily life.

Building Good Habits, Growing with Self-Discipline

We encourage students to maintain a balanced and constructive routine during the summer break. We recommend the following areas for parental guidance:

  • Healthy routines: Sleep and wake up early, limit screen time, and care for eye health.
  • Independent learning: Set up study plans, complete homework on time, and review and preview key subjects.
  • Physical activity: Exercise for at least one hour daily to build physical strength.
  • Reading enrichment: Read at least 30 minutes a day to broaden perspectives.
  • Life skills: Encourage participation in household chores such as simple cooking, cleaning, and organizing to develop responsibility and independence.

Strengthening Safety Awareness, Securing a Joyful Break

To ensure a safe and joyful vacation, we ask families to pay close attention to the following safety guidelines:

  1. Water Safety: Summer is a high-risk season for drowning. Please remind children not to swim or play near lakes, rivers, or ponds without adult supervision. Teach them the six key “No’s” of water safety:
  • No swimming alone;
  • No swimming with peers unsupervised;
  • No swimming without adult/teacher presence;
  • No swimming in unsafe or unsupervised waters;
  • No swimming in unfamiliar areas;
  • No rescue attempts by inexperienced swimmers.
  1. Preventing Telecom and Online Scams: Help children raise awareness against fraud: never share personal information or trust unknown messages and links. Avoid online interactions with strangers and beware of online relationship scams or suspicious financial transactions.
  2. Traffic Safety: Instruct children to follow traffic laws, use pedestrian crossings, and avoid running red lights or climbing over barriers. Children under 12 should not ride bicycles on roads; under 16 should not use e-bikes. Refrain from using unauthorized or uninsured vehicles.
  3. Food Safety: Promote healthy eating habits. Avoid overeating, unverified, or expired food, and “junk food.” Encourage good hygiene, especially washing hands before meals and after using the restroom.
  4. Electrical and Fire Safety: Teach children to use appliances properly, avoid touching sockets or wires, and be cautious around open flames. Educate them on emergency procedures and fire escape strategies.
  5. Mental Well-being: This is a crucial stage in children’s emotional development. Positive psychological guidance can help build healthy personalities, cultivate optimism, resilience, cooperation, and courage in the face of challenges. We encourage parents to spend quality time with their children and foster open, trusting communication.

Treasuring Precious Moments, Reuniting in September

Dear parents, summer is not only a time for rest, but also a golden opportunity to nurture connection, understanding, and shared growth between you and your child. We sincerely hope that your family will enjoy meaningful moments together—through reading and sunshine, conversation and companionship—and gather strength for the journey ahead.

Let us look forward to reuniting in the new semester, ready to embrace new milestones in your child’s learning and development.

We wish you and your family a joyful, safe, and peaceful summer!
