Chinese Language Bridge Competition — The Moment of the Ultimate Showdown

As a key highlight of the Chinese Language Festival

The 4th Chinese Language Bridge Chinese Knowledge Competition

consisted of preliminary and final rounds

and attracted many outstanding Chinese-learning enthusiasts to participate

Preliminary selection

Participants showcased their language ability and personal charm through a “1-minute Chinese self-introduction + 2-minute talent performance,” demonstrating their skills in a comprehensive way. After intense competition, the final 8 contestants stood out and advanced to the final round.

Poetry Quiz Relay Round

In groups of four, contestants competed through rapid Q&A sessions. The final round delivered thrilling buzzer moments, earning loud applause from the audience and perfectly interpreting the phrase “A mind rich in poetry and books naturally radiates elegance.”

Knowledge Competition Round

Covering Chinese language foundation, cultural literacy, and understanding of China, contestants engaged in calm thinking, quick decision-making, and effective teamwork, fully demonstrating both intellectual depth and strong team spirit.

Talent Showcase

Contestants displayed their unique talents through a wide variety of performances.

Yang Yingying (Thailand) presented a Chinese calligraphy performance, with flowing brushstrokes that beautifully showcased the elegance of Chinese characters.

Chen Jiamei (Thailand) performed the violin piece The Butterfly Lovers, blending Chinese and Western musical traditions with grace and emotion.

Zhang Shuyuan (Hungary) delivered a heartfelt rendition of Someone Like Me, captivating the audience with her beautiful voice.

Dong Yang (Thailand) gave a live dubbing performance of the animated film Ne Zha, bringing the characters vividly to life.

Karthik (India) performed Tai Chi, demonstrating the harmony and balance of traditional Chinese martial arts.

Jin Xingling (Brazil) presented a classical Chinese dance, enchanting the audience with graceful and expressive movements.

Xia Dalei (United States) performed The Entertainer on the violin, delivering a lively and engaging performance.

Qian Pinfen (South Korea) performed The Vow of Dandelion, delivering a deeply moving performance.

As a previous winner of the “Global Chinese Bridge” competition, Xiwani impressed the audience with her Chinese dubbing performance.

Xiwani (India) dubbed the classic animated film The Monkey King: Uproar in Heaven.

 

Finally, Zhang Shuyuan from Chile won the championship with outstanding overall performance, while Yang Yingying from Thailand and Qian Pinfen from South Korea were awarded second and third place, respectively.

Passing the Torch – The Light of Cultural Inheritance

This International Chinese Language Festival was not only a celebration of language and art, but also a meaningful cross-cultural dialogue. Through a series of engaging activities, teachers and students deepened their understanding of the Chinese language and culture, while actively participating in the practice of mutual learning among civilizations and cultural integration.

It is precisely the theme of this event, “Chinese as a Bridge Across Five Continents, Civilizations Learning from One Another Across the World.” We firmly believe that this “Chinese Bridge” will continue to connect the world, bring hearts closer, and become a strong bond for friendship and exchange.

Chinese: A Vessel for Civilizations. The 4th HIS International Chinese Festival was more than a multicultural celebration – it was a symphony of global harmony, where language bridged divides and cultures flourished together.

Looking ahead, may this”Bridge of Chinese Language“welcome more cultural explorers next year, inspiring new chapters in our shared human story!

Through experiences like this, students are further inspired to learn to speak Chinese not only as a language skill, but as a way to express themselves, understand different cultures, and connect with the wider world.
